Logic and branching
Google Forms supports branching, but only at the section level, and only when triggered
by a multiple-choice or dropdown question. There is no piping (inserting a prior answer
into a later question), no quotas, and no question-level conditional display. SurveyBaker
supports question-level conditional logic, piping, and a logic linter that flags broken
or unreachable logic before you publish.
Team roles and approval
Google Forms shares forms through Google Drive, which gives collaborators edit or view
access to the form — but there are no roles (editor vs reviewer), no approval step, and
no draft/publish staging. Anyone with edit access can change or publish immediately.
SurveyBaker includes team roles, an approval step, and staging on the free plan.
Upgrading Google Forms
There is no standalone upgrade for Google Forms. Adding features means buying all of Google
Workspace (US list price): Starter at $7 per user per month (annual), Standard at $14, or
Plus at $22. Gemini AI in Forms — including suggested questions and response summaries —
unlocks at the Standard tier ($14 per user per month, annual). SurveyBaker's team features, approval
workflow, and logic are included at no cost, with no Workspace subscription required.
EU hosting
Google Forms is operated by Google (Alphabet), a US company. Data is subject to US law,
including the CLOUD Act. SurveyBaker is hosted on Supabase in the EU (eu-west-1). The
company behind it, Rivenholt AS, is European with no US parent.
